Interview: Klingande talks the future and breakout 2014 in Bunk exclusive

IMG_8279

Cédric Steinmyller, also known as Klingande, made his second appearance in Toronto in less than a year. Since his performance at The Drake at the beginning of the year the French producer has taken the World by storm. On the heels of his smash hit “Jubel”, Klingande spent the summer playing the biggest festivals overseas and selling out shows around the globe. Following in the footsteps of guys like Kygo, Bakermat and Thomas Jack, Cedric is well on his way. On November 1st he made his return to Toronto at The Hoxton to a sellout crowd. Ripping through the biggest house tracks of the last year, Klingande had the crowd at his fingerprints alongside his live saxophonist. We had the chance to talk everything music before his gig and learned that his favourite DJ is Roger Sanchez. Pretty respectable choice in our opinion. Click after the jump to read the full interview with Klingande.

Show some <3 for Jonathan Rosa’s latest deep house baby “Storm”

10324247All to often we get caught up in peak time tracks and the bangers of the moment. Doesn’t really matter what genre it is. It happens in techno all the way to big-room. Sometimes we forget that nights are built up over-time with carefully crafted track selection and pin-point accurate mixing. Jonathan Rosa has become a staple in Toronto’s house scene and for good measure.  Maybe it was our trip to Stereo Montreal this past weekend, but we came back with a whole new respect for the even deeper side of house music. “Storm” was one of the first tracks I heard when I got back home and it instantly brought back that perfect feeling of euphoria “Stereo” emitted. Check out the Room 303 remix for equal awesomeness.

Release: Charlie Darker – HMF (Original Mix)

charlie-darker1Leave it to Charlie Darker to always come correct with an original piece of electronic nastiness.

“Loaded with a unique new sound and a fresh take on dance music. Combining elements of techno, electro, trap, and more with cutting edge sound design, the young Canadian producer has turned out a two-track EP that expertly manages to push the boundaries of electro house.” – Kannibalien Record

We’re reaching a time where the popular big-room sounds are waning and people are looking for something a little more. A little more challenging, a little more complex, a little more forward thinking. The big festival sized stages aren’t going anywhere anytime soon and we’re going to need awesome music to fill them. Charlie may be supplying a heavy dose of that.

Preview: Wolfgang Gartner – Unholy (AMTRAC Remix)

amtracAmtrac gained a ton of notoriety when he teamed up with Kaskade earlier this year. With a remix of “Heroes” on the way, the Kentucky producer has stepped up his 2014 with a huge remix of “Unholy” by Wolfgang Gartner. If you’re looking for an up-tempo and energetic house record this is your track. The bassline on this one is magical, acting almost like a guitar line and pushing the energy forward. One thing I really love about the track is the breakdown. Amtrac manages to avoid the cliche over-the-wall and crowd stopping breaks that have infiltrated house music over the last few years. Gotta keep that groove! He also threw in a sweet guitar section for little extra umph :)

Release Date: December 1st (Kindergarten Records)

Release: Sugar Hill & Wasabi – It’s On You (Ganzfeld Effect Remix)

10805618_553299844801575_7851335776534250015_nThe Manchester duo Ganzfeld Effect continues to impress us with their latest release on Toolroom. They’ve got hold of the classic “It’s On You” by Sugar Hill & Wasabi for a big ol’d ravey remix that fits in perfectly with Toolroom. A massive bassline booms through the drop and the percussion is spot on. A huge peak time banger for proper house DJs.
